When & How It Happened.

I can remember the first time I really enjoyed this thing called cooking, it was winter 1979 and I was...come on do the math....6 years old. My sister had just got the Easy Bake Oven I remember seeing the commercials back in the day and did everything I could to bribe my sister to put it on her Santa list. Don't worry I still wanted all the traditional things that boy's want BB gun video games, Atari I think it was. Anyway the big day came and when I saw her open her oven I knew I'd be eating those damn little cakes all winter break and so would the whole family if I had it my way. Needles to say my mom was back and forth to Toy's R Us all break to get the cake mixes needed for that little booger........To be continued......

  1. I was 1 in 1979, but I do remember having an Atari before the old school Nintendo came out with Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt.

  4. Awesome! I love to cook too. I remember those easy bake ovens! Brings back so many nice memories of my childhood. I can still remember the smell of it too. I had 2 or 3 when I was younger, using them all at once. I made those cakes for anybody and everybody. When I cook now, I still make more food than I need to. I blame those easy bake ovens for my sweet tooth as well as cooking for an army! Can't help it, just love to cook, it keeps me sane! Its a great stress reliever too!

  11. My daughter had an Easy Bake but hated to cook so she gave it to her brother - who is turning into a fantastic chef. They need to make those Easy Bakes in camo color for the boys out there LOL

  12. Ok, I have a confession to make and embarrassed to admit it. Honest to God, Two weeks ago was my downstairs neighbors, Daughter's 5th birthday. She is into Barbie Dolls big time. I went shopping to buy her a gift. My intent was to buy her some Barbie related gift. I have not seen an Easy Bake Oven in ages, and as I was going down the toy aisle, I spotted one. I was telling my husband about how much fun I had when I was younger and how I think she might like one. Hubby said, "No, she likes Barbies and its YOU that likes the Easy Bake Oven, put it down Loree". So, I sent my hubby off to the sports & entertainment section of the store saying he could purchase one thing. I didn't have to tell him twice, within seconds he was gone, leaving behind skidmarks before I changed my mind, LOL(we are on a tight budget). I held that Easy Bake in my hands and debated long and hard. Ok, not too long. Well, needless to say, I purchased it for...ahem... Her, ;) I did wrap it in Barbie wrapping paper though! Lets just say, I insisted on showing her how to use it and since then, I stop by ALOT with new mixes for cakes, brownies ect for "Us" to use! She actually said, "Ms Loree, I think you like this just as much as me, and its okay, I share, sharing means caring". I do have my own Adult oven to use, but...I feel like a kid again! For X-mas though, I will get her alot of Barbie dolls for sure. I'm over the Barbie doll stage of my childhood and she'll not have to worry about me wanting to play with them!
